What this site is
An independent guide to sports betting and gambling law for readers in Idaho. We cover a state with no legal sportsbook, which makes the job a little different from the usual state guide. Most of what we publish is about the gap between what Idaho law permits and what people actually do.
Why Idaho
Thirty-eight states legalised sports betting in the seven years after the federal ban fell. Idaho did not file a bill. The reason is that the prohibition sits in Article III, Section 20 of the state constitution rather than in statute, which means undoing it needs supermajorities in both chambers and then a public vote. That is a genuinely different legal situation from most of the country and it deserves proper explanation rather than a one-line summary.
How we test
We open and fund accounts with our own money. Bonus terms are read in full and the turnover requirement is worked out on a realistic deposit rather than the advertised cap. Withdrawals are requested on more than one rail. Legal claims are traced to the statute or official announcement they rest on and the source is named in the text. The full method is on our how we rate Idaho sportsbooks page.
How we make money
We earn a commission when a reader opens an account through one of the advertising links on this site. It costs the reader nothing and it does not change the price of anything. It also does not determine the ranking. The highest-paying offer in our lineup is not the one placed first, and operators have no ability to buy position, approve copy or preview a downgrade.
What we will not say
We do not describe an unlicensed offshore sportsbook as safe, trusted or guaranteed. None of the operators we cover holds a licence from any US state, and no Idaho authority supervises them or can help you recover funds. We say that plainly on every page rather than burying it. We also do not tell readers that offshore betting is legal in Idaho, because it is not.
Responsible gambling
Everything here is written for adults who have decided to bet. If gambling has stopped being entertainment, our responsible gambling page lists free and confidential help available to Idaho residents.
